Zeeheldenkwartier (also called Zeeheldenbuurt) is a district, in the centre of The Hague, that was built between 1870 and 1890. The district borders on the districts Centrum, Regentessekwartier, Duinoord, Zorgvliet and Willemspark. Initially, stately, spacious houses for the well-to-do were built around the Anna Paulownaplein. Immediately afterwards, smaller streets with smaller houses followed. In addition, the district has mansions and separate upper and lower storeys and there are a number of courtyards.
The main shopping streets in Zeeheldenkwartier are Prins Hendrikstraat, Piet Heinstraat and Zoutmanstraat. There are attractive squares and lively streets. The district is very active in organising various markets, (culinary) events and has its own Zeeheldenfestival.
The population consists mainly of young adults and expats. It is a trendy neighbourhood that is just a stone's throw away from the centre and has a good connection to the Central Station. The beach is also within cycling distance where you can get a breath of fresh air all year round.
