Scheveningen is a district of The Hague, named after a fishing village that subsequently merged into a seaside resort and neighbourhood of The Hague. It is a lively district with the dunes, the beach and the sea within walking distance. In the Scheveningen area, you will find many houses from before 1916, but also many houses from the 1930s and houses from the 1980s. Besides the dunes and the beach, Scheveningen has a number of beautiful parks, including the Scheveningse Bosjes, the Westbroekpark and the Hubertuspark. The district consists of the parts Dorp, Haven and Bad, each with their own character.
The oldest and most historic shopping street in Scheveningen is Keizerstraat. Here you will find many small shops and eateries, but also a large supermarket.
In Scheveningen (or on Scheef) live, besides the "authentic" Scheveningen elderly, also sporty young adults.
